IN MY MOTHER'S HOUSE

" A MOTHER'S LOVE LASTS FOREVER"

This dramatic stage play is about Mae Carpenter, a wife and mother of four, who struggles to live with the deadly auto-immune disease ,lupus, while trying to keep her family together.

Mae lives in a Northeast Houston Heights mixed-class neighborhood.  She is a God fearing, strong, and yet sensitive woman who loves planting flowers and gardening.  Her husband, Amos Sr. , is a trucking company owner.  Both of them left the red dirt land of Natchitoches, Louisiana, in order to have a better life in Houston.  Mae's dream has always been to have a family, and to be a loving and nurturing mother.  Then, all of a sudden, it seemed her dream started fading away.

It all started 20 years after Mae was diagnosed with lupus.  She had kidney failure, and had to undergo dialysis treatment.  The disease then cause complications to her heart.  In the midst of this critical time in her life, Mae takes care of her eldest son Tilbert, who suffers from serious mental conditions.  Junior, her second oldest child, was once a college basketball star, and pro prospect.  After he got injured and couldn't play in the pro's, he became indulged in drugs.  Marie, Mae's daughter, struggles to get off to a good marriage.  Mae's youngest child, Derrick , is a college basketball star and academic all-american.  Over the course of this family's story, we experience the challenges, faith, hope, and love that bring them together.
