Television  - H-TOWN

H-Town is about a once highly touted college basketball player, who was convicted and received the maximum sentence for drug possession with the intent to distrbute.  Derrick Randolf was on his way to the NBA, when the car he was riding in with his older brother, after celebrating a college basketball win, was pulled over in the North East Houston Heights.  Unbeknowst to him, there was a quarter pound of marijuana and an ounce, "cookie", of crack found under his seat.  Initially, the cops were going to arrest his older brother, but knowing that his brother had a wife and kids to support, he was convinced to take the fall for the drugs, in hopes of getting a slap on the wrist , since he was an outstanding college student and known basketball player.  The opposite, ends up happening in court, in which he goes to trial, gets found guilty, and is faced with doing 10 to 15 years, because the judge, Ed Poe was up for re-election and wanted to appear tough on crime.  Everyone was shocked, including the officers who arrested him. While in prison he earned his law degree and helped other inmates defend themselves in the court of law.  Ten years later he gets release from prison, on a Presidential Pardon and is left to try to piece his life back together.  He decides to become the people's lawyer and represent others in the city of H-Town.
